About

I’m a Ph.D. student in the Department of Music at the University of Pittsburgh, where my focus of study is ethnomusicology. My research interests lie in the performance of Japanese taiko drumming – group taiko performance, or kumidaiko, is of particular interest to me.

Beyond academia, I’m interested in all aspects of popular culture, both in Japan and in the US. Music, movies, TV, video games, comics – you name it, I probably have at least a passing interest in it. I’ll probably touch on those subjects in one form or another on this blog at some point.
